“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. You are worth more than many sparrows.” Luke 12:7
Who Am I?
This is such a personal question and I challenge you to really think about this. Who are you? Do you think you are just a mom? Dad? Wife? Husband? Son? Daughter? Sister? Brother? I can’t tell you how many times I’ve asked myself this question. One thing is for sure, you’re not just a small person wandering aimlessly here on earth. You are special to many people but most precious to God. God created you for Him.
Then God said, “Let us make man in our image (“us” and “our” is God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit), in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him, male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:26-27
Luke and Matthew both took into account what Jesus said so it must be pretty important to know:
“Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. You are worth more than many sparrows.” -Luke 12:7
“And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.”Matthew 10:30-31
Can you even fathom that we are loved so much and are so special that God knows how many hairs are on our heads? Seriously, our hair falls out and grows back, and falls out, yet God knows us that much. So if God knows specifically how much hair is on our heads, does He not know what’s in our hearts? Oh yes, He knows our joy, our pain, our every thought. He hears our cries and He sees our tears. He hears our laughter and He sees our smiles. God sees, hears, and understands every little detail of our lives. We are His children.
But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.” Samuel 16:7
Yet to all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God – children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:12-13
WE ARE CHILDREN OF GOD
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!
1 John 3:1
